Letter of Intent LIFE & LEGACY Brochure LIFE & LEGACY™ Update
(as of June 2016)

529 Commitments
$15,341,185 estimated amount
How do you express your commitment to your community? How do you support the Jewish organizations that are important to you? Omaha's Jewish community is fortunate to have many who donate their time and/or money to area Jewish organizations. However, what happens after the donors are gone? What can you do for future generations to ensure that they are well-served by the Jewish organizations you support?

You can leave a legacy.

On June 11, 2015, the Jewish Federation of Omaha Foundation hosted a celebration in the JCC Gallery to honor the members of our community who made commitments during the first year of Omaha’s LIFE & LEGACY™ Program. Generous Omahans have promised over 300 legacy gifts to secure the future of Jewish tomorrows. Please view the video which includes testimonials from some of our LIFE & LEGACY donors. Find out “why they did it.”

Through hard work and dedication, all nine of our community partners, the ADL, Chabad House, Institute for Holocaust Education, Nebraska Jewish Historical Society, Jewish Federation of Omaha and its agencies, Temple Israel, Beth El Synagogue, Beth Israel Synagogue and Friedel Jewish Academy reached or exceeded their first year goals and received incentive grants from the Harold Grinspoon Foundation.

We wish to thank all of our wonderful donors for helping to ensure the financial security of Jewish Omaha for generations to come; it will be your legacy.

The Jewish Federation of Omaha Foundation is pleased that Omaha’s LIFE&LEGACY™ initiative developed and supported by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation is in full gear and has been highly successful since it began on May 1, 2014. All 9 of our local partner organizations, The Jewish Federation of Omaha and its agencies, ADL/CRC, IHE, NJHS, Chabad, Friedel Jewish Academy, Temple Israel, Beth El Synagogue and Beth Israel Synagogue are actively engaging with donors and have seen great results. Beth El Synagogue has been fortunate to benefit from a commitment from an anonymous donor who pledged a $1 million gift on the condition that the congregation raised a minimum of $1million in commitments from other Beth El members by December 31st, 2014; which they successfully did by year’s end.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the vision, leadership and support of our 15 local donors who have committed over $240,000.00 to fund this program for its first two years. It is with gratitude and appreciation that we thank them.

We continue to be educated by Arlene Schiff, the National Director of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, who has come to Omaha numerous times and made presentations to and met with our local LIFE&LEGACY Partners. We look forward to celebrating with Arlene and our entire Omaha Jewish community this summer as we mark the success of our first year with a community wide event. There will be further information on this website about the LIFE&LEGACY celebration event as it grows closer.

Legacy giving is transforming our Omaha Jewish community as well as Jewish communities across the country. We know that Omahans will continue to express their passion for sustaining the programs and services that we all cherish by making a legacy commitment. The gift that you make today will ensure the financial stability of our Omaha Jewish community for generations to come.
